Actress-singer Sanjeeta Bhattacharya who played the supporting role of Helena from the blockbuster film ‘Jawan’ gained immense fame for her performance. However, the Bengali beauty is not only an incredible actor but also a mesmerizing singer  and songwriter. After being the part of the blockbuster film she is making a strong return to the indie music scene with her latest single, ‘Ratiyaan’. Through this song Sanjeeta pays homage to her Indian Classical roots. The infusion of Indian classical music and contemporary pop with afrobeat-inspired rhythms will undoubtedly give a new experience to the audience. Written and composed by her, the song is produced by Karan Pandav in Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi. Sanjeeta tends to reflect the linguistic diversity of her upbringing in Delhi. Let’s check out the complete details of this story.

Sanjeeta Bhattacharya said Ratiyaan speaks of a love that you are too nervous to express

Sanjeeta said of her song,”Ratiyaan speaks of a love that you are too nervous to express but it consumes you and leaves you sleepless, longing for their presence.”

Although her last songs give us a mellow vibe, ‘Ratiyaan’ which is also her debut Hindi track is more upbeat and will make the listeners dance. As for what inspired this transition? “A lot of that has to do with my newfound fascination for afrobeat. I wanted to create music that I have fun playing and dancing to while performing live,” the singer noted. Bhattacharya who is a Berklee College of Music graduate has also performed at festivals like the Panama Jazz Festival, Hornbill Festival, and NH7 Weekender.

Notable for blending R&B, Indie folk, and Latin influences with multi-lingual lyrics, the singer’s goal is  to make songs with a perception to tell personal stories.

Through ‘Ratiyaan’, she tries to open a fresh era of music with a hope that the audience will enjoy it. Bhattacharya said,”I’ve had a lot of fun making Ratiyaan. I hope it reaches a wider audience and gets featured in a film.”

Needless to say, she shines incredibly in her dual role that after listening to her song ‘Pensarte’, ‘Jawan’ director Atlee Kumar gave her a break as a singer and songwriter in the film. In the Shahrukh Khan starrer film, Sanjeeta wrote and sang ‘Mis Chicas’ which is composed by music director Anirudh.
