Aditi Ramesh remains one of the most underrated gems of independent music in India. In her long career, the singer is known for creating unique blends of jazz and hip-hop with her Carnatic classical training. The singer added multiple genres of music including Carnatic music, jazz, R&B, soul, hip-hop, folk, and funk. Despite being a part of four prominent bands including Aditi Ramesh Ensemble, Ladies Compartment, and Voctronica she is yet to get the fame she deserves. Let’s take a glimpse at her life and journey.
Life and Journey of Aditi Ramesh
Based in Mumbai, the talented singer spent most of her life in Buffalo, New York. Ramesh has always been a bright student thus it’s quite unimaginable for her family to see her choose a singing career. However, it isn’t totally unusual since she is keen on music from a very young age. She takes her passion for music to another level after getting trained in Carnatic vocals and Western classical piano.
Although initially starting a career as a professional Lawyer her devotion to music took her in a different single ‘Efflux of Time.’
In 2018, her dream of becoming a professional singer came true with the release of her debut.
Later Sambar Soul and Shakti also show her different sides as a musician.
However, it is her EP Leftovers which completely changed her as a musician. As for the singer, she grows more fearless and confident with the release of her songs. While explaining her diverse choices in music she explained to still trying to venture into new spaces and rebuild them in her own way.
In 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic, she also had numerous successful international tours with her bands in Turkey and the UK. On the other hand, in India, her performance in Mood Indigo (festival) in IIT Bombay made her incredibly lovable to the listeners.
Her songs Filter Coffee (2023), Sambar Soul (2020), Shakti (2021), and Heal (2020) have earned her immense popularity overnight.
Along with singing she also possesses an immense passion for song composing, with exploring the self-expression, of women in society she tends to inspire numerous female artists with her powerful verses.
