Bangladesh cricket team created history by recording their first Test win over Pakistan in their 14th attempt in Rawalpindi. The Bangladesh Tigers have been facing back-to-back defeats from the team since 2001. Opting to field first, Bangladesh started the game on a high note, making Shan Masood’s men reeling at 16 for three. However, the Pakistanis fought back with their powerful middle-order batter Saud Shakeel (141) and wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan (171) both making centuries creating a strong score of the first-innings at 448 for six.

Their nightmare started again with Mushfiqur Rahim’s phenomenal knock of  341-ball 191, followed by the able fifties from Shadman Islam (93) and Mehidy Hasan (77) earning a lead of 117-run. Let’s check out the highlights of the historic win.

Bangladesh Defeate Pakistan for the first time in the Test

The Pakistanis collapsed on the Day 5 morning with an overnight total of only 23 for 1. The team also lost half of their man for 104 with the magic spell of spinners Mehidy Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan making them all out in 146.

This victory marked their first Test win over Pakistan in 14 attempts since 2001. They also beat the team on their home ground. The Tiger’s performance is improving day by day as they have now beaten nine of the 11 Test playing teams except India and South Africa.

Simultaneously, they now suppressed Pakistan on the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 points table standings with their second win in five games this cycle. As for the Pakistanis, they dropped into the 4th position shrinking their points percentage (PCT) to 30.55.

As for now, the teams will re-encounter on August 30 for their second test match.
