Halle Bailey and DDG’s fairytale has come to an end. The duo who welcomed a baby boy named Halo nine months ago have called it quits. On October 2, DDG whose real name is  Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. shared an Instagram story announcing the news of their separation. Although the “Moonwalking in Calabasas” rapper noted his love for the Little Mermaid star  “remains deep and true” it’s still quite shocking to digest the news of their breakup. Let’s check out what the rapper has said in the official statement.

DDG said he and Halle believe the separation is the best path for them

DDG started the statement, “After much reflect and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared.”

On top of that, his love for the mother of his child “remains deep and true” after adding, “We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared.”

Halle has yet to address the break-up publically. The 26-year-old rapper and the 24-year-old songstress went public with their romance in 2022 after sharing a deep friendship from 2015.

The Color Purple actress even told Essence in 2022, “I grew up being on YouTube and would always see the young Black creators and was constantly inspired by them. He was one of them.”

The couple’s romance led to a very private journey to parenthood as they both didn’t announce the 24-year-old’s pregnancy until the birth of their son.

The actress wrote on X after the allegations of lying about her pregnancy, “I never lied or even said anything about it. I’ll never understand why you are mad I protected my own peace, wouldn’t you do the same?”

On the other hand, she also faced severe postpartum depression after Halo’s birth. Back in April, Halle revealed on Snapchat, “I have severe, severe postpartum. Going through it, it feels like you’re swimming in this ocean that’s like the biggest waves you’ve ever felt—and you’re trying not to drown.”
