The time isn’t going well for Julie Chrisley. On November 21, Julie alongside her husband Savannah Chrisley was sentenced to imprisonment because of tax fraud. Their U.S. attorney’s Office confirmed to NBC news that Julie was given a seven-year stay while her husband got 12 years behind the bar.
Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan “Over the course of a decade, the defendants defrauded banks out of tens of millions of dollars while evading payment of their federal income taxes. Their lengthy sentences reflect the magnitude of their criminal scheme and should serve as a warning to others tempted to exploit our nation’s community banking system for unlawful personal gain.”
Julie’s one interview with Savannah Chrisley before her imprisonment got released where she talked about how her close friends abandoned her.
Julie Chrisley said her friends felt awkward about her situation
While talking with Savannah Chrisley the 49-year-old said that some of her friends “don’t know what to say”. While some felt awkward about the situation.
“I am just the type of friend that if I am your friend, I am your friend,I am your friend whether we have two dollars combined together or we’ve got millions, whether things are going great or whether our worlds are falling apart, whether our kids are great or they’ve lost their way. That’s who I am.”- the reality star stated.
However, after their verdict, the family’s lawyer Alex Little of Burr & Forman LLP expressed their plan to appeal the convictions.
“Their trial was marred by serious and repeated errors, including the government lying to jurors about what taxes the couple paid. Based on these issues, we are optimistic about the road ahead.”- he said in a statement.
We wish that justice will prevail.
