Rebel Wilson opened up about the reason she thinks Adele hates her. Rebel, who released her new memoir, Rebel Rising, explains in the book that there may be some bad blood between her and the “Easy on Me” singer. Here is the reason why she made such comments.
Rebel Wilson said she was compared with Adele when she was bigger
The 44-year-old wrote in her memoir, “Some actresses would get offended if I called them plus-size in this book, so I have to be careful with what I say. This is why, I think, Adele hates me. There was a moment when she was bigger, and some people would confuse us for one another.”
However, the Pitch Perfect star indicates that it was just her impression that Adele “didn’t like being compared to ‘Fat Amy.’”
“I am assuming, because to be fair I’ve never asked her,” Rebel noted that the Grammy winner, “always quickly turns away from me at the few events where I’ve seen her as if my fatness might rub off on her if I were near her for more than thirty seconds.”
Moreover, the actress-comedian also recalled an incident when she was in England the people actually confused her with the singer revealing, “I legit signed an autograph once as Adele at Claridge’s because the people truly thought I was her and wouldn’t leave me alone until I did.”
Rebel also shared that she was honored by the comparison because, as she put it, “Adele’s f–king awesome.”
The actress also noted that she made her name playing the “fat funny character” and was concerned that losing weight might affect her career by limiting the opportunities. However, she later lose 77 pounds with Ozempic in 2020. Moreover, The Bridesmaids actress also shared in her book that she didn’t have the best experience when she eventually came across the 35-year-old singer during an Oscars after-after party. She even described her as “b–chy.”
Although her fianceé Ramona Agruma shows immense support for the book the is still afraid to be in the bad sight Adele she noted, “Like you’re afraid you’re going to get barred from her concerts or something? I don’t think that’ll happen, babe.”
The Senior Year also shared her excitement about the books on Instagram as she noted, “You guys, I mean, I can’t wait for you to read this, You’re going to see a whole new side of me. Lots of funny stuff, and serious stuff … And hopefully you guys will love the book as much as I’ve loved writing it — although sometimes [it’s] been gut-wrenching and emotional.”
Rebel Rising was released on April 2.
