The 1993 song also features Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit, Neena Gupta, and Sanjay Dutt dancing to the beats. The remix of this hit is recently used in the movie Crew starring Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon. Right after it’s released the song is receiving mixed response. However, finally, During an interview with Bollywood Bubble Alka Yagnik who sang the original version reacted to the remix. Let’s check out what she has said.
Alka Yagnik said in the current era this is how it goes
Talking about the remix version the National Award-winning singer noted it’s the current trend of Bollywood to add raps in any song, however, she acknowledged it since it’s her voice people are listening to.
The playback singer said at the interview with Bollywood Bubble, “Kya comment karu uske upar? Aur woh gaana bohot popular hai. Pehle bhi bajta tha bohot, abhi bhi baj raha hai. Maine bola ki theek hai hamara gaana hai, hamare awaaz main hi hai remix, baj raha he bajne do achcha hi hai! It is a hit song… usme rap-wap daal kar ke… theek hai yaar. Ye zamaana hi he, ye chal hi raha aisa, ye daur hi he aisa (What can I comment on that? And that song is very popular. It used to play a lot before, and it still does. I said that it’s okay, it’s our song, our voice is in the remix, let it play, it’s good! It is a hit song… adding rap or whatever… it’s okay. This is the current era, this is how it goes, this is the trend).”
Moreover, she also shares her opinion on rap songs. Yagnik criticized the lack of authenticity of singers adding, “Naya kuch nahi kar rahe hai, bas rhythm pattern change kar rahe hain. Bich mein rap daal dete. bolte gaana hit he. Arre woh hit hi tha! Lekin Lata didi, Asha Didi ka gaana bhi utha rahe he? Those songs of that era… unko jab tehes nehes karte hei toh takleef hota he. Those are masterpieces, those should not be touched (It is nothing new, just the rhythm pattern is changed with the rap in between. That was a hit song before, also. You are even doing the same with Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle’s songs. When you play with those songs, that really pains me).”
The new version of ‘Choli Ke Peeche’ is sung by Diljit Dosanjh and IP Singh and remixed by Akshay and IP.
