Boost Your Immunity: How to Minimize the Risk of Infection

With Coronavirus being at its peak, it is very crucial to undertake all the necessary precautions and boost our immunity. If we stay at home, get vaccinated and keep our immunity up, we can most certainly prevent the virus from infecting us.

Improve Your Diet

  • Your diet plays a very important role in determining your overall health and immunity.
  • If you have high blood sugar and pressure problem, eat low carb food. It will also help slow down diabetes.
  • Consume fruits and vegetables that are rich in Beta carotene, Ascorbic acid and other essential vitamins.
  • Supplements rich in omega 3 & 6 fatty acids can also help. Although natural immunity supplements include ginger, gooseberries (amla) and turmeric.
  • Certain herbs like garlic, Basel leaves and Black cumin also help in boosting immunity.
  • Eat a lot of seeds and nuts to improve immunity. It includes – sunflower seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds and melon seeds. These are an excellent source of vitamin E and protein.

Don’t compromise on sleep

  • Try to sleep for at least 7-8 hours. It helps body to build immunity.
  • Lack of sleep adversely affects the action of the flu vaccine.

Stay Hydrated

  • In order to stay hydrated, drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day.
  • It will help the body to get rid of toxins, hence reducing the chances of infection.
  • Drink juices made of citrus fruits and coconut water, to beat the heat.

Exercise Regularly

  • Exercising regularly helps the body to release toxins.
  • It improves metabolism, which has a direct correlation with the body immunity.
  • It is recommended to exercise for 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your stamina.

Destress Yourself

  • Do meditation. It is the best way to relieve stress. Too much stress harms your reply to abrupt surroundings and makes your body prone to infections.
  • Avoid Smoking, alcohol and other addictive substances as it weakens the body.

Supplements and immunity boosting foods

You must have food that is rich in Vitamin D. Or you can also consume vitamin D supplement. It will keep your body uptight and right.

Vitamin C also helps in building immunity. It prevents common cold.

Zinc helps in fighting infections. In the current COVID-19 situation it is highly advisable to consume zinc supplements, especially for older people.
