Delhi-based band Delhi Indie Project is one of the rookie bands which has become the talk of the town within a short period of time. Active since 2018, their tracks Guzarish, Yeh Dilli Hai Meri, Rehnuma is back with their new heartwarming track Main Teri Yaad. The band is known for their showing the blend of Sufi, Indie, Bollywood, Folk and Punjabi music with western elements of Jazz, Blues, Rock, Funk and Latin Music. The new track written, composed and sung by Ashish Chauhan gives soothing yet heartfelt emotions. In a recent interview with the Indian Times Chauhan who is also the main vocalist of the band shared the details of the making process of the song. Let’s check out what he has said.
Ashish Chauhan said this song holds a very special place for it’s relatable lyrics
Filmed in the beautiful location of Kashmir Chauhan revealed why this song will be a special song for the listeners. He told the outlet,”This song holds a very special place as the lyrics are something everyone can connect to.”
He explained, “The music video is about an artist finding her own self. I wrote this song around six years ago. While sitting with my piano, I came across this unique melody and some amazing lyrics came to my mind instantly. Every life situation I went through in these last few years made me add more lines and that’s how the entire song was composed.”
The song was shot in Kashmir, which Ashish says “was the perfect backdrop for a love song like this.” It features Sukhmani Lamba.
He further added,”Sukhmani and I happen to be from the same school. I was two years senior to her in school and we both were popular in school as she was an amazing dancer and actress and I used to be active in music. I used to play drums in the school band. After being friends for 23 years, we worked together for the first time and did our first song together. It feels great to work with her,”
The band has previously shared sathe with artists like Harshdeep Kaur, Rekha Bhardwaj, Shilpa Rao, Parikrama, Indian Ocean, Hari-Sukhmani, Astitva and many more. The band consists of six members including,Ashish Chauhan (vocals and guitar), Jasmine Kaur (vocals), Mayank Bhatnagar (bass), Varun Rajput (electrical guitar), Shashank Signania (flute) and Vikrant Puri (keyboard).
