Regular vitamin consumption is very important for our body. People who have a well balanced vitamin and mineral levels in their body are really active and healthy in general. Water soluble vitamins like vitamin C and B are excreted along with urine. Fat soluble vitamins like vitamin E, D, K and A could accumulate in the body and might cause toxicity.

But there is more to just consuming vitamin through supplements or by having a balanced diet. The aspect of outer application of certain vitamins for the prevention of wrinkles in the beauty industry has been successful since long. Many products claim that the application of vitamin E on the skin slows down aging. But is it true?

Here are the common benefits of applying vitamin E on your skin:

  • Antioxidant Properties: The fat soluble Vitamin E, has a general property of stopping the chain reaction of free radicals in order to end the production of more and more free radicals. In this way, Vit. E plays a role in protecting cell membrane, protein structures and DNA from oxidation. Therefore, it contributes in maintaining cellular health.
  • Anti-Inflammatory Properties: Vitamin E is also known to exhibit anti-inflammatory properties. These decrease the production of C-reactive protein (CRP) and inhibit the release of inflammatory cytokines in the body.
  • Anti-Aging Properties: Topical administration of Vit. E has been very popular since the early times! It has emerged as a treatment to numerous skin disorders as well. It has skin-softening properties too. The reactive oxygen species has the ability to damage the synthesis cycle of collagen glycosaminoglycans in
skin. This free, unstable oxygen could come in contact with the skin due to radiated from Ultra Violet rays and other bodily reactions along with exposure to certain chemicals and smoke.
  • Removes Scars: One of the most famous properties of Vit. E is its application and effectiveness in reducing burn marks, surgical scars and wounds. It has also shown its effects in reducing under-eye circles or dark circles.

Vitamin E is very good for skin and body in general. But high doses could cause nausea, fatigue, diarrhea, blurred vision, stomach cramps, bruising, weakness, headache, rash, and bleeding.
