Earth Day marks its date on 22nd April every year. This day is celebrated globally and it makes its 51st Anniversary this year. This day is marked in order to respect, honor, and protect our mother earth. We all have one common thing, which is this Earth.
This year’s concept for Earth Day is ‘Restore Our Earth’. The purpose of this day is to promote environmental protection among living beings. The future generation. In 2009, the United Nations indicated April 22 as ‘International Mother Earth Day’.
Today, not only is Earth Day a day meant to raise awareness of environmental problems, but it is also becoming a common time for many communities to gather together to clean up litter, plant trees, or simply reflect on the beauty of nature.
The very first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970. It was 1990 when it went global, mobilizing 200 million people in 141 countries and lifting environmental issues onto the world stage. Earth-Day 1990 gave a tremendous lift to recycling efforts worldwide and helped pave the way for the 1992 United Nations Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
It also mentioned President Bill Clinton to award Senator Nelson the Presidential Medal of Freedom — the highest honor given to civilians in the United States — for his role as Earth Day founder.
“Recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic is a chance to set the world on a cleaner, greener, more sustainable path,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
“Mother Earth is clearly urging a call to action. Let’s remind more than ever on this International Mother Earth Day that we need a shift to a more sustainable economy that works for both people and the planet”.
With every passing year, the global climate is getting detoriated, this makes our prime duty to conserve and save mother nature so that every entity on this planet lives peacefully.
