Eva Mendes is so beyond proud to be Ken’s Barbie
On January 24, the Hitch actress wrote along with a screenshot of an article in Rolling Stone that described Ryan’s acting as “cringe,” “So much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it.”
The actress who shares daughters Esmeralda, 7, and Amada, 5, with the Barbie actor added, “Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to Oscars. So beyond proud to be this Ken’s Barbie.”
Minutes after Ryan’s Barbie co-star America Ferrera, who also got her first ever Oscar nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category shows support for the actor.
“He is brilliant as Ken! Pulled off a triple somersault performance! We’re so lucky it was him and I’m so grateful for the way he showed up with his superstardom, and continues to show up to support all the women in this process!!”Ferrera wrote in the post’s comment section.
The Ugly Betty alum continues,”He is a class act and insanely deserving and talented.”
Although Robbie and Gerwig don’t get nods as actress and director they get recognized in the film’s producer and screenwriter category.
On top of that, the film also got a nod in the Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay category as well.
Previously, Gosling also called out the snubs in a statement to E-News.
“No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius,” the 43-year-old said. “To say that I’m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement. Against all odds with nothing but a couple of soulless, scantily-clad and, thankfully, crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, they broke our hearts, they pushed the culture and they made history.”
He added, “Their work should be recognized along with the other very deserving nominees.”
