Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook has told that it’s employees to continue working from home.
Facebook is accepting applications from people who are eligible to work remote permanently, if the managers approve.
Last year when the pandemic was at it’ s peak, Zuckerberg made a prediction. He said that in the coming five to ten years almost 50% of the company’s employees could be working remotely.
Then after some time Twitter’s Jack Dorsey made headlines. He announced that his employees “can now work from home forever”.
But with passing months, some of the drawbacks have emerged.
Google on the other hand has announced to bring forward a timetable of moving people back into the office.
Are Facebook employees “thriving” at home?
With the rapid spread of Coronavirus Pandemic, all the office working has been shifted to home working.
And since working is a necessity, firms have started looking beyond the pandemic. Many are stuck between whether to bring back employees or to continue the work at home routine.
According to Brynn Harrington, vice president of Facebook some people are very keen to continue working like this. They are “really thriving” at home.
“For example, parents who are closer to their children and are happy to cut their commute time and optimise their work day, they’re thrilled to work from home,” she said.
Pay Rates
The multibillion-dollar company thinks that working remotely is not about saving costs. But there is also a possibility that the employees would be paid according to their mode of work.
Ms Harrington further added that “We pay based on the local cost of labour in a market, so there will be variability in terms of pay for remote workers, based on where they work.”
Many big companies are also testing the theory of this work arrangement. But it will be very difficult for the employees to juggle their time between home and office
