Kamal Haasan’s much anticipated project Indian 2 has finally got a release date. Previously, the makers had unveiled the poster and shared that the film will grace the silver screens in June. However, the release date has changed according to the new updates. Directed by S. Shankar this film is an official remake of 1996 film, Indian. Subaskaran Allirajah’s Lyca Productions and Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies will serve as the producer of this movie. Haasan will be reprising his iconic character Senapathy and also will also play the dual roles of both a father and his son. While announcing the movie’s poster Haasan wrote, “Gear up for the comeback of Senapathy! INDIAN-2 🇮🇳 is all set to storm in cinemas this JUNE. Mark your calendar for the epic saga!”

India 2 will release on 12th July 2024
The Vikram actor shared a poster to announce the release date of the film on X, formerly known as Twitter. It reads, “Indian 2 Releasing worldwide in cinemas 12th July 2024!”

Apart from Kamal Haasan the film will feature Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Vivekh, Kajal Agarwal, SJ Suryah, Bobby Simha, Brahmanandam, Samuthirakani, Nedumudi Venu, Delhi Ganesh, Manobala, Jagan, Kalidas Jayaram and Gulshan Grover.
The 69-year-old sharef during an interview with The Hindu, the news of wrapping the shooting of this movie. “I can’t make up for the lost time. Also, we cannot speed up production as the quantity doesn’t matter, quality does. We have completed Indian 2 and Indian 3. The post-production work of Indian 2 is currently happening. We will start work on Indian 3 post-production after we finish it.”
The prequel of S Shankar’s film starred Kamal Haasan, Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar and Kasthuri Shankar where was seen in the dual roles of a righteous fatherSenapathy and his corrupted son Chandru.
