Amidst the so far wicked 2021, a major super celestial event might just mark the beginning of an end to this global crisis! The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) reported that the total lunar eclipse is going to start at 4:47:40 am EDT on 26th of May 2021. This lunar eclipse is going to be the first celestial event of 2021. Now it has been reported that it is not going to be alone. The Lunar Eclipse will be accompanied by super moon and red blood moon all at the same time!
LUNAR ECLIPSE:
When earth blocks sunlight from descending on the moon by directly coming in between the two celestial bodies, it is called as Lunar Eclipse. The eclipse that has to take place on May 26 is going to be a full lunar eclipse, that is, the earth will completely cover the moon and form a straight-line connecting sun, earth and moon.
RED BLOOD MOON:
When the moon is devoid of any sunlight, it doesn’t reflect any light and therefore it should turn dark. But when earth is directly shadowing the moon, a little bit of light from the disk of the planet (sunrise and sunset light) falls on the moon. Since this light is stretched out for a long distance in the space, it takes a reddish color. Therefore, moon appears to reflect a reddish tinge in its color instead of complete darkness.
SUPER MOON:
When the full moon surfaces at the closest point on the orbit of closest approach towards the earth (Perigee), it appears to be slightly larger and brighter than a regular full moon and therefore is called as a Super moon. It is generally very difficult to different between the regular and super moon, since the difference is very marginal. But if one sits with a telescope and compares the two, they can tell the difference!
