Sophie Turner has finally opened up about the aftermath of her messy divorce with Joe Jonas. The Jonas Brothers star filed for divorce from the Game of Thrones alum eight months before Sophie is now recalling the onslaught of speculation, including rumors that she preferred partying over being a mom of two. The actress who shares daughters Willa Jonas, 3, and Delphine Jonas, 22 months, whose name she recently revealed, with the singer unveiled a lot of facts in a May 15 interview with British Vogue. Let’s check out the complete details of this story.
Sophie Turner said the time of her divorce was the worst days of her life
The 28-year-old told the outlet, “I mean, those were the worst few days of my life. I remember I was on set, I was contracted to be on set for another two weeks, so I couldn’t leave. My kids were in the States and I couldn’t get to them because I had to finish Joan. And all these articles started coming out.”
“It hurt because I really do completely torture myself over every move I make as a mother—mum guilt is so real!” the 28-year-old added. “I just kept having to say to myself, ‘None of this is true. You are a good mum and you’ve never been a partier.’”
On September 6, a day after her estranged husband filed court documents to end his marriage the couple officially announced their separation via a joint Instagram post.
“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” the former couple shared in a joint statement, posted jointly by their Instagram accounts at the time. “There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Although the split seems to be amicable initially it’s soon turned into a message due to the “wrongful retention” of their kids in New York City “from their habitual residence of England.”
Afterward, The Dark Phoenix star filed a lawsuit against her ex.
“There were some days that I didn’t know if I was going to make it,” she noted. “I would call my lawyer saying, ‘I can’t do this. I just can’t.’ I was just never strong enough to stand up for myself. And then, finally, after two weeks of me being in a rut, she reminded me that it was my children I was fighting for. Once anyone says to me, ‘Do it for your kids,’ I’m doing it. I wouldn’t do it for myself, but I’ll find the strength for them.”
“I mean, it’s unfathomable the amount of people that will just make s–t up and put it up based on a picture,” the mother of two noted. “A picture might tell a thousand words, but it’s not my story. It felt like I was watching a movie of my life that I hadn’t written, hadn’t produced, or starred in. It was shocking. I’m still in shock.”
For now, the actress seems to be in a healthier place in her current relationship with British Property developer Peregrine Pearson whom she started dating soon after the separation.
