American singer songwriter Taylor swift slams the copyright lawsuit against her hit song ‘Shake It Off’ (https://youtu.be/nfWlot6h_JM ).The song was released in 2014 and became a massive hit overnight. Moreover, the song ranked number one on the Billboard Hot100 for four weeks. It even grabbed three Grammy nominations. So the news shook everybody when songwriters Sean Hall and Nathan Butler filed the copyright suit in 2017 against Swift. However, the singer vehemently declined all allegations.
The allegations against Taylor swift
In year the 2017, the news of songwriters Sean Hall and Nathan Butler filing lawsuit against Swift came out.They made this allegations second time this year.They claim Swift plagarised their song “Playas Gon’ Play”( https://youtu.be/dD9A8x_xn5g ). This song released in the year 2001 by R&B group 3LW . The song even ranked on 81 in Billboard Hot 100 chart.According to them the line in the song ‘Shake it Off’, “playas, they gonna play, and haters, they gonna hate” is clearly a copy of their song. In 2018 the jude dismissed the calming of plagiarism. But In 2021, an appeal panel is resurrected the case again and ordered the suit go for a trial. However, Swift plead to the court for dismiss the case. But in December, Jude denied the claims and set a jury to settle the matter.

Taylor Swift’s response
The 32 year singer categorically denied all the allegations. Swift says the line ‘ Players play, and haters hate’ is an universal saying and it has used in many songs previously apart from her song. She also claimed didn’t know about song “Playas Gon’ Play “. According to her, she only got to know about it after the allegations. In a statement Swift said “In writing the lyrics, I drew partly on experiences in my life”. The singer also claimed,” in particular, unrelenting public scrutiny of my personal life, ‘clickbait’ reporting, public manipulation, and other forms of negative personal criticism which I learned I just needed to shake off and focus on my music.
