Once upon a time, a residence in the Middle East named Palestine was under the rule of the Ottoman Empire. Palestine was home to people with various religions such as Jews, Muslims and Christians. Due to the vast land area, all were living in peace.
But back in 1881, due to the extreme abomination of Jews’ community by others, they decided to form their own country after years of their area’s expulsions around the world. This movement was called Zionism. Masses of Jewish people moved to Palestine from different parts of Europe to get settled as it is considered to be a holy place for Jews.
World War I and its consequences on Israel-Palestine Conflict:
In 1915, when World War I began, the British, French and Arab revolutionaries were fighting the Ottoman Empire. The Arab revolutionaries were fighting to create a unified Arab country, from Syria to Yemen. But British and French had inked a secret deal; as soon as the Ottoman Empire lost, they divided the Middle East area between themselves. The Palestine region fell under the British rule.
At this time in Germany, millions of Jews were getting massacred by genocide. And again, thousands of Jews fled to Palestine to save themselves. But British officials didn’t allow them to take refuge, which led to the formation of an Israeli Nationalist Movement in Palestine.
Around the 1940s, the Palestine Nationalist Movement also had begun. And due to the unending protests of the Jewish and Palestinian masses, in 1948, a new country got established named as Israel with the end of the British mandate.
British ceded the responsibility of partition of Palestine to the United Nations. The UN distributed the Palestine region in three parts – Arab state, Jewish state and kept the region of Jerusalem under government control.
Israel accepted the plan and they originated their own country in 1948. But neighboring Arab nations were against the law and had started a war against Israel. All neighboring 5 countries attacked Israel and the war was named the First Arab-Israeli war of 1948. And astonishingly, Israel won the war.
