A pink wave is blowing away the theatre. As per the reports of Variety, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie suppressed Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’s box office collection. The two movies which are termed ‘Barbenheimer’ released on the same last Friday, July 21st. However, both of the films have a lot of buzz but Barbie is supposedly having a bigger opening than Nolan’s biographical drama.
Barbie opened with $155 million while ‘Oppenheimer’s collection is $80 million
As per reports of Variety, Barbie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling had a blockbuster opening with $155 million and capped out at $337 million globally. Although it isn’t a bad opening for Nolan’s historical drama starring Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and Cillian Murphy as it collected $80.5 million.
However, it isn’t wrong to say Greta Gerwig’s film has snatched the first spot.
Prior to the release, the film’s leading star Margot Robbie (Barbie) shared her excitement about the film.
Robbie said, “I am just so excited. We’re at the point of sharing it with the world. There’s always that thing when you make a movie and you love it and you care about it so much and you hope that people are gonna like it and even see it. Like even if they don’t like it, I just hope they see it and get to form an opinion. But I feel like so many people are gonna see this movie that it’s really exciting.”
Moreover, the 33-year-old added, “It really is Greta’s vision. I mean, the vision for Barbie obviously started 64 years ago, but Greta bringing it into the world today in the way that only Greta Gerwig can is what makes this movie worth making right now.”
Needless to say, the “Barbenheimer” wave is blowing up everyone’s mind.
