Aditya Prakash is one of those musicians in India who despite being exceptionally talented and multitasking remains underrated. Starting his journey from a young age the musician captivated the listeners with his soothing vocals and extravagant capability of playing numerous Indian classical instruments. In fact, he collaborated with sitar maestro Ravi Shankar and Carnatic singer T.M. Krishna. After coming under the influence of these legends his perception of music changed completely.
With the success of his album ISOLASHUN which features songs like “INSIRGENTS”, “ISOLASHUN”, and “3AM” his success has reached a new level. However, he is still deprived of the recognition he deserves. Let’s delve into the life and journey of this underrated gem.
Life and Journey of Aditya Prakash
Born in Los Angeles to Indian parents, the singer grew up in an artistic family where the high influence of Karnatik music kept him rooted in his native place.
Gaining professional training from the age of 12, with his incredible talent and hard work he collaborated with sitar maestro Ravi Shankar just at the age of 15. He joined him in his extensive tour of the USA and Canada from 2005-2006.
He also took months off during his senior year of high school to pursue music. Aditya also spent his time with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist, Andy Summers which improved his skills even more.
However, as ups and downs come in life the musicians also lost track until R.K. Shriramkumar and T.M. Krishna reset their focus into Karnatik music.
Aditya Prakash’s path to success
In 2023 Aditya gained huge fame after the release of his album ‘Isolashun.’ Talking about the album he earlier said,“It is a self-critique album that explores the tension in dual identity and questions notions of beauty tied to the ‘classical’ aesthetic.”
The musician continues, “It brought me solitude as an artiste, with my engagements canceled, me being forced to stay in one place, unmotivated and uninspired. The political happenings in my two homes, India and the U.S., made me aware of the one-sidedness of history that we are taught since childhood, in school, and in our learning of the ‘classical’ art forms.”
This July the singer even comes with a new single titled “Anthem.” As Prakash explained this single celebrates America with pomp, splendor, pride, and awe.
