Marvel fans would be calling Alan Ritchson the God of Thunder, however, he lost the chance. In an interview for Men’s Health’s upcoming March cover story, the Reacher star recalled auditioning for numerous superhero roles among which Thor also came on his plate. However, despite knowing he might get the gig Ritchson didn’t pay attention to it. Needless to say it has become a major disappointment for him since Chris Hemsworth who later took on the role of the thunder god got immense popularity and recognition for his role. Let’s check out what he has revealed.
Ritchson said he didn’t take it seriously
The 41-year-old told the outlet, “I didn’t take it seriously,” Ritchson recalls of the audition. “I was like, ‘They’ll throw me the part if I look like the guy; nobody really cares about acting.'”
Moreover, the casting team later told the actor’s reps that Ritchson hadn’t shown that he had “the craft.” The actor also admits to being tormented for several years for this mistake.
Although Chris Hemsworth ultimately takes on the role of Thor, Ritchson hasn’t been a total disappointment in his career. As the actor starred in Aquaman on Smallville in 2005 before Justin Hartley took over the recurring role. Moreover, his role in Spike TV sitcom Blue Mountain State, made him a known face worldwide.

I could go weeks without people even knowing I feel a certain way, When I’m manic and I feel like something isn’t living up to its best potential, it usually comes out in a very — not in a mean way — but in a ‘this has to be better’ way. Like a very, almost obsessive ‘this has to be better.’”
The actor also shared how sharing awareness on mental health helped him with his own struggle. In addition it has helped him to create a loving world for his wife Cathrine and their three sons.
This Valentine’s day the actor also shared a sweet post for his wife writing,”My beautiful bride. Happy day of love. You give my life meaning and purpose beyond the temporary and entertaining, You reach past important and stretch my soul towards essential. I’ve felt eternity on your lips and known forever in your embrace. I will forever and always be your servant. Happy Valentine’s Day.”
