Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh shares is not expecting much from his acting career. Diljit who is all set to appear in the Netflix film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ which is releasing next week said acting is not his forte. Directed by Imtiaz Ali this biographical film features Diljit Dosanjh in the titular role based on the life of the record-selling artist and renowned live-stage performer from Punjab who gained immense fame in the 1980s through his humble beginnings. Despite the success of his recent film ‘Crew’ starring Kriti Sanon, Kareena Kapoor, and Tabu he seems to not indulge in acting. In a recent interview with Film Companion, he talked about a lot of interesting facts about his career. Let’s check out what he has said.
Diljit Dosanjh said acting is a distinct craft
The 40-year-old told the entertainment portal, “I believe that acting is not my forte; it’s a distinct craft. I feel I lack the necessary qualities to be an actor. If an opportunity arises that aligns with my skills and interests, I do consider it, but my main focus is on playing music.”
As for how he feels in front of the camera he responded, “I often lose awareness of the cameras being there. This is just second nature to me. However, when I do become conscious of them, I feel like I’m being insincere and superficial. The chaos of the set, the crew, and the equipment can sometimes contribute to this feeling of inauthenticity. Those actors who can navigate through all of this are truly remarkable.”
Moreover, he also reveals the way he handles his growing popularity and success, “There’s a dialogue in the film – Samajhna kuch nahi hota, bas kar jana hota hai (Understanding is not necessary, only doing is required). I resonate with the philosophy that one should not aim to understand everything but rather take action. Life operates on similar principles”. He also added, “Talks of fame and such are trivial.”
Produced by Mohit Choudhary, Select Media Holdings LLP, Saregama, and Window Seat Films ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ will demonstrate the tale of Punjabi record-selling artist and renowned live-stage performer Amar Singh Chamkila. Apart from Dosanjh, actress Parineeti Chopra will also play a pivotal role.
‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ will start streaming on Netflix on April 12.
