Chelsea Handler spelling the bees about breaking up with Jo Koy. On December 27, during her appearance on Brooke Shields’ Now What? podcast the comedian finally spoke up on the fact. The former couple first met on the set of the show Chelsea Lately and begin romance during the pandemic. However, in the summer the pair announced their split just before their one-year anniversary.
Chelsea Handler explained why she decided to part ways with Koy in spite of loving him so much
On December 2, the 47-year-old appeared on the Brooke Shields’ Now What? podcast where she talked about her breakup. She explained, “There were just some behaviors that we couldn’t agree on, and it felt to me like I would have to abandon myself—which maybe I would have been OK to do if I were 20 or 25—but I wasn’t willing to do that. No matter how much I loved this person, and I loved him so much, I was not going to abandon myself.”
Later on, Handler added, “I was like, ‘I’m not going to change this, I’m not going to change the way that I behave in order to make you feel more comfortable. I’m not doing that.’ And I had to walk away from something that I really believed was gonna be a forever relationship, and so that was difficult.”
She even revealed to have therapy with her then-partner, but it didn’t work out. However, she admitted that “walking away from him was one of the most difficult things that I ever had to do.”
The former couple reportedly started dating in 2020. They first met on the show Chelsea Lately. However, their fairy tale romance ended this summer ahead of their first anniversary.
