Chris Pratt Starrer, The Tomorrow War – A Must Watch

Chris Pratt starrer, The Tomorrow War is a very expensive-looking sci-fi action film that released on Amazon Prime on 2 July.

The movie is packed with entertainment that mainstream Hollywood does so well on occasion.

The Plot

It all starts when the 2022 FIFA World Cup final is interrupted by time travellers who came out of a wormhole. It was an obvious strategy to attract an international audience separately, as the World Cup final might be the most-watched event ever.

At this point, you might wonder if the people from the future waited unambiguously for the final to make an entrance.

As expected from a sci-fi alien movie, the future human came bearing bad news. The future world has been invaded by aliens.

And there was only one chance for humankind’s survival – to draft people from the past to fight on their behalf.

Here enters Chris Pratt with his particular set of skills to fight against aliens.

Dan Forester played by Chris Pratt actually has the battle experience, unlike other draftees. So, he agrees to go to war, but he must make the difficult decision to say goodbye to his young daughter. She knew that 70% of ‘soldiers’ won’t return.

Once you start watching, you might have mixed reactions – why sending middle-aged people to kill aliens? What’s the deal with time travel? But this the exact way the movie wants you to think. You’re just expected to roll with it.

Moreover, there is a comic character who will predict what you’re thinking, and make the exact same exclamations.

Director Chris Mckay has done a fabulous job with the movie’s animation. Ariel shots of an apocalyptic 2051 Miami- battleships in the middle of the ocean, chasing sequence are all well-choreographed.

The film showcases a sense of family and duty permeates into every scene beautifully.

As usual, there are deaths but then there is that unbridled joy of seeing flawed yet happy families come together to deal with their fate.

And most importantly, humour is measured – that’s a good sign.

It contains high-power action, making the scenes more and more thrilling with every twist and turn.
