Crystal Hefner opens up about her life as the wife of Hugh Hefner. The former Playboy model who was married to the magazine’s founder from 2012 until his death in 2017 revealed he was never truly in love with her husband. Crystal said her relationship with the owner is emotionally abusive
The 37-year-old told the media house that, although she “loved and cared” for her late husband,” she was “never truly in love with him.”
“It’s hard to be in love with someone who wants multiple people in the bedroom,” the model shared, “and really only cares about themselves and their own needs and wants.”
Crystal said her marriage was “very traumatic.”
“It was emotionally abusive,” Hefner said. “It was very restrictive. I didn’t realize how bad it was until I was away from it for a while.”
In her new book Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself, she detailed her life as a Playboy Bunny. As she said she is ready to “tell the truth for my own healing.”
“I’m in a much better place,” she added. “I feel that I will always be a work in progress, but I feel that I finally have true freedom.”
For now Crystal is set to revert back to her maiden name Harris, as she said it is “that last step to just be myself.”
“When I was at the mansion, I didn’t know who I was,” the author added. “When you don’t know who you are, that could be dictated to you by somebody else and if that’s given to you by someone else, it could also be taken away. So, it’s very important for you to have your own power.”
Crystal has detailed her marriage and career in her new book.
She said of her modelling days “The pantry staff would start frantically calling my phone at exactly 6:01 p.m. And then I would run in, pushing through the heavy wooden door, and go find Hef, so I could kiss him on the cheek and show him: Here I am, I’m home, I’ve followed the rules.”
She continues, “Hef, of course, held the master key that ensured no one could ever lock him out.”
On top of that, she also talked about her sex life with Hugh who is sixty years older than her. She said, “He seemed less sex-savvy than some of the teenage boys I’d been with years ago, It was clear to me Hef had never taken a moment in his entire life to figure out how to please someone else.”
