Netflix’s new original series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story becomes the most streamed series just in 12 days. On October 4, Netflix shared a metric which shows The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’s popularity. The show hit the streaming platform on September 21.
Dahmer – Monster streamed over 496 million hours
Dahmer – Monster reached a milestone in the streaming platform. It has been streamed for over 496 million hours which means more than 56 million households have seen the series. Afterwards, the release of the series the acting of Evan Peters got a lot of appreciation. Moreover, the clips of the trial got viral on the internet. Peters received interesting fame overnight for his remarkable portrayal of a not-so-remarkable character.
Along with Peters, the cast includes Niecy Nash, Molly Ringwald, Richard Jenkins, Colin Ford and Rodney Burford.
The series received criticism from the victim’s family
Jeffrey Dahmer is an American serial killer and sex offender. He brutally murdered 17 men including a teenage boy between 1978 to 1991. The show follows the story of his crime and court trial. However, along with the praise the Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan created show faced a lot of criticism from the victim’s families. Rita Isbell, the sister of Dahmer’s 19-year-old victim Errol Lindsey murdered in April 1991. The show also showed her famous testimony. She called out Netflix for not asking about their concerns.
On September 26, Isbell told an insider, “I feel like Netflix should’ve asked if we mind or how we felt about making it. They didn’t ask me anything. They just did it, But I’m not money hungry, and that’s what this show is about, Netflix trying to get paid.”
Before the show, Dahmer’s story is also adapted into television shows and films. Including Ross Lynch’s 2017 film My Friend Dahmer.
