Director OI Parker opened up the third installment of his famous film Mamma Mia. On December 18, during his latest interview with Screen Rant, he talked about the upcoming franchise of the popular film. As per Parker, ABBA-tracked jukebox musicals are meant to be a trilogy. It’s indeed great news for Mamma Mia fans.
Ol Parker said the film is meant to be a trilogy
OI Parker in his recent interview with Screen Rant on December 18 talked about the upcoming franchise. “Judy Craymer, the genius producer behind the musical and the first two films, always plans for it to be a trilogy. That’s all I can say. The first one made an enormous amount of money, and I think we made a fair amount too. I know that there is a hunger for a third, and I know that she has a plan. Wouldn’t it be lovely?”- Parker said.
However, the question of when we can watch the movie is still unanswered. In 2020, while talking with Daily Mail the film’s producer Judy said at that time, she is working on the idea of Mamma Mia 3. “I was meant to have been getting on with that, in my head, during these months. But then I got hit with COVID fog. I think one day there will be another film because there’s meant to be a trilogy, you see. I know Universal would like me to do it.”
On top of that, the leading actress of the film Amanda Seyfried also talked about the film in May of this year. However, she didn’t have any idea of the storyline. Seyfried, who plays Sophie in the film, told Variety,”I don’t know what to do. Who cares? The plot doesn’t even matter at this point. ABBA has got new songs, throw them in there, get the cast together again.
We can’t wait to see her again.
