Donald Trump, The former President of the U.S has permanently deleted his blog, his senior aide Jason Miller told CNBC.
It was just auxiliary to the broader efforts we have and are working on,” Miller told. Miller also added that it “will not be returning”.
Donald Trump started his blog, “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump,”. The blog began after Trump being barred from major social-media platforms subsequent to the violent January 6 Capitol siege.
He extensively used the blog to publish short posts – many of them related to his previous tweets – promoting himself, spreading lies about the election, and attacking Republicans who he thought were disloyal to him because they denied supporting his claim that the election was stolen from him. Users could use the statements, images, or videos that Trump posted to the blog and share them on Twitter and Facebook
Trump’s blog was mocked for its format after he and his team spent months saying they would start a social-media giant to rival Facebook and Twitter.
AN analysis conducted by NBC News discovered that the blog had comparatively less audience than his Twitter and Facebook accounts. It was also found that there was little engagement with the posts. NBC reported that in the week after Trump started his blog, it got little more than 212,000 engagements, compared to a single tweet from Donald Trump, which sometimes got hundreds and thousands of likes and retweets.
Since the blog has been shut, the website for Trump’s blog, which used to be www.donaldjtrump.com/desk, redirects to www.donaldjtrump.com/alerts. The page prompts people to sign up for “EXCLUSIVE updates” from the former president.
