Train in Egypt, which was a passenger train got derailed. The incident took place just north of the Egyptian capital Cairo and caused multiple casualties. Near about a hundred people got injured in the accident. It is known that Egypt has faced many rail accidents in recent years.
Egypt’s Health Minister reported” 97 citizens were injured in a train accident” about 40 km outside the capital.
Nearly 55 ambulances were sent to treat the injured, the ministry said, and investigators have been sent to evaluate the accident’s cause.
The train was routed to travel to the northeast city of Mansoura.
According to Reuters news agency, eight carriages had overturned, citing a post on the province’s verified Facebook page.
The state-run Ahram daily informed that authorities have detained at least 10 railway officials. The train driver and his assistant were also detained.
A video floating on social media depicted the train lying on its side and widespread debris. The footage has not been confirmed yet.
