Our little mermaid is a mommy now. On January 6, the actress-singer shared via Instagram that she and her boyfriend Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr aka DDG became parents of a beautiful baby boy. The couple first sparked romance rumors in January 2022 while attending Usher’s Las Vegas residency and later went public with their relationship. As the Little Mermaid actress hadn’t talked about her pregnancy or expected motherhood before the news came as quite surprising to the fans. Let’s delve into the details to learn more about the newborn.
Halle Bailey and DDG named their baby boy Halo
The 23-year-old wrote on Instagram along with the photo of her and her newborn’s hand, “Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo. the world is desperate to know you.”
The new chapter of this young couple’s life reminds me of the inception of their romance which began in Usher’s Las Vegas residency in January 2022. Since then the pair has not hesitated to showcase the love and respect they have for each other.
In an interview with Essence in August 2022 the Chloe x Halle singer noted how he admired the “I’m Geekin” rapper. “I grew up being on YouTube and would always see the young Black creators and was constantly inspired by them. He was one of them.”
Although she “forgot about him” as she got older, she added, “But then I saw that he was dropping music, and I really gravitated toward this one song. Coincidentally he messaged me—and the rest is history.”
Meanwhile, the rapper gushed about his lady love on The Breakfast Club radio show last November, “I’ve never been with nobody that’s, like, really motivated me like she do.”
Moreover, Bailey even admitted to People how she believes the rapper is her Prince Eric “I think the best thing about young love is that you’re able to continue to find yourself through this journey of loving somebody else. And you’re discovering new parts of yourself and maybe things that you didn’t notice before about your heart.”
However, the couple passed through a difficult period in July of last year when he dropped a song called “Famous” seemingly bashing Halle for “kissing dudes” in movies.
Although the difficulties seemingly resolved since the 25-year-old tweeted in September, “life can change in a few months… stop losing the mental battle” and later, “can’t nobody stop me from my blessings.”
Congratulations to the new parents!
