Suits has always been a fan favourite legal drama-series run. Although it ran for nine long seasons till its end in 2019, one of its most popular characters of the series Mike Ross played by Patrick J. Adams has taken his leaves two seasons earlier. The fans of the series got an immense shock when Adams took an unexpected exit as he was one of the protagonists of the series. So, you must be wondering why such a talented actor who was gaining so much popularity from the series ended his journey two years early from its wrap. Here is the reason behind the departure of the actor.
Patrick J. Adams revealed the reason for leaving Suits is a long distance from his family
We last saw Mike in the 16th episode of the seventh season titled “Good-Bye.” As per the plot of the season, seven finale Mike and his girlfriend Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) got married and settled down in Seattle to run their own law firm. It was also the last time we saw Markle ( Now known as The Duchess of Sussex) in the show.

In 2018, during an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the 41-year-old revealed the long distance from his family and wife, Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario whom he married in December 2016 made his life stressful. Therefore, it ultimately caused him to take an exit from this popular series.
“After seven seasons — really, eight years of being away from home and away from my now-wife Adams married and there was that pressure.” -the actor said.
Moreover, this wasn’t the only reason Adams left the show.
As he said, ” I started thinking about leaving at the end of the first half of season six, after Mike was released from prison. From a story point of view, I was a little unsure of what was left for him to do. Mike had made the pledge during his trial that if he were allowed to continue to practice the law, he would dedicate his time and energy to underrepresented people and not big, corporate interests. I wasn’t sure how we were going to work that version of the character into the fabric of the show. “
However, Patrick seems satisfied with the conclusion of Mike’s story.
He explained, “Aaron Korsh and I talked about it and he pitched this idea of Harvey (Gabriel Macht) offering a one-for-one deal that would keep Mike working at the firm so he could gather the resources to go and do more pro-bono cases. That brought up an interesting season seven. And I’m proud of how this season turned out.”
