Veteran actress Jane Fonda opened up about her only concern over co-star Jennifer Lopez’s marriage to Ben Affleck. The actress who appeared as Lopez’s on-screen mother in the 2005 comedy Monster-in-Law was also recently asked to be a part of Lopez’s new documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told. As per the Variety, Fonda shared her thoughts on the songstress’s marriage to the Oscar-winning actor. Let’s dig into the entire details of this story.

Jane said the couple’s marriage feels too much like they’re trying to prove something instead of just living

The 86-year-old shared in the documentary, “I want you to know that I don’t entirely know why, but I feel invested in you and Ben, and I really want this to work, However, this is my concern. Like, it feels too much like you’re trying to prove something instead of just living it. You know, every other photograph is the two of you kissing and the two of you hugging.”

The couple first started dating back in 2002 and even got engaged before calling it off in 2004. In the 2000s the couple were also dubbed “Bennifer” by the press. More than two decades later the pair rekindled their romance and tied the knot in 2022.

Meanwhile, JLo also reacted to Fonda’s comment by laughing off and saying, “That’s just us living our life.”

In addition, Fonda also pointed out Affleck’s viral photos out in public and at the Grammys in March 2023, where he looked upset or bored.

“I got real scared, you know, with all that s**t about the Grammys and he looks unhappy and I’m like, ‘Oh, my God, what’s happening?'” she admitted.

Once again Lopez also denied the concern saying, “Nothing! He was like, ‘I’ve become the symbol of the beleaguered man.’”

Previously in this year’s Golden Globes Jennifer also echoed this statement to Entertainment Tonight. The 54-year-old said of her husband’s expression, “Ben is doing alright. You don’t need to worry about Ben, let me just tell you, He is good. He is happy. He is here — he is nominated. I’m chilling, I don’t understand what people are so pressed for.”

Recently, JLo also made a rare comment on her and Affleck’s 2003 split, saying, “Our relationship crumbled under the weight of the pressure. We lost a sense of ourselves, and we needed to separate because we didn’t know how to survive it. I had to figure myself out, and he had to figure himself out.”
