Kieran Culkin and Emma Stone are ready for their comeback. The duo who dated from 2010 to 2011 recently collaborated on the upcoming film A Real Pain. On January 20 at the Sundance premiere of the film, the Succession actor conversed with E-news’s The Rundown host Erin Lim Rhodes where he talked about the much-awaited reunion with his ex. Although Stone didn’t act in the film she produced the film along with her husband Dave McCary, Jesse Eisenberg, Ali Herting, Jennifer Semler, and Ewa Puszczyńska. “She’s great”, The 41-year-old said of her former partner, “She’s a really wonderful person.”
“It’s nice because you go into a job and most of the time you don’t really know anybody,” he explained about the benefits of working with his ex-partner. “But in this case, going in, I’m like, ‘Oh, OK, well at least that part’s taken care of.’”
However, he isn’t acquainted with his director and co-star Jesse Eisenberg, his connection with Emma made the process a lot easier for him.
“I’m going into a situation where the producers are going to be great,” the actor added. “And where the filmmaker will be nice, too. It was good.”
Culkin and Stone started dating after meeting on the set of 2009’s Paper Man. Despite splitting in 2011 they remained friendly ever since and even paired in 2013 anthology flick Movie 43.
On top of that, they also united at the Critics Choice Awards on Jan. 14, where Kieran was awarded as Best Actor in a Drama Series for playing Roman Roy on Succession, while Emma got Best Actress award for portraying the role of Bella Baxter in Poor Things. This role also earned her double Oscar nominations this year for acting and producing.
Talking about their current life, the actor tied the knot with Jazz Charton in 2013, and also became the proud parents of two children together, daughter Kinsey Sioux, 4, and son Wilder Wolf, 2. Meanwhile, Stone got married to filmmaker and producer Dave McCary in 2020 and also shares 2-year-old Louise Jean.
Previously in a January 20th interview with Rolling Stone, he said he found it funny to call the La La Land actress his “ex”.
He goes on saying, “To me, she’s just a really good friend of mine and my wife’s. She’s lovely and great.”
