Matthew Perry opened up about the reason behind his breakup with actress Julia Roberts. The Friends actor in his recent memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing got candid about his former love life. The actor was allegedly in a two-month relationship with the pretty woman star. In a recent excerpt by UK newspaper The Times he unveiled a lot of facts about this romance. Matthew Perry said Roberts wants be in His Storyline
Perry told Uk newspaper The Times that Roberts “would only do the show if she could be in my story line”. So he had to “woo her.” Roberts , 54, appeared on Friends as a guest star in season two. Moreover, he said he sent Roberts three dozen roses and a note that says”The only thing more exciting than the prospect of you doing the show is that I finally have an excuse to send you flowers.” Isn’t it so sweet of him!
After this their short professional relationship became a three month romantic one. The former couple also sent faxes to each other. Later on the 17 again actor also talked about meeting Roberts parents for the first time. The actress came with Perry to New Mexico to spend the new year with her family.
“We jumped in this big blue truck and drove up a mountain, snow swirling around.Eventually we reached a mountaintop, and for a moment the weather cleared, and we could see New Mexico and beyond, all the way back to Canada. As we sat there, she made me feel like the king of the world. A gentle snow was falling, and with that, 1996 began”- Perry details the incident.
Perry said parting ways with Roberts is best for him
Later on, he continued parting ways with her somehow is best than the thoughts of losing her.
“Dating Julia Roberts had been too much for me.I had been constantly certain that she was going to break up with me. Why would she not? I was not enough; I could never be enough; I was broken, bent, unlovable. So instead of facing the inevitable agony of losing her, I broke up with the beautiful and brilliant Julia Roberts.”- he explained.
