Media Coverage of Tokyo 2020 Olympics to be Monitored

Media coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will be closely monitored says the president of Tokyo 2020, President Hashimoto.

The coverage will be done in order to ensure that Media do not leave pre-registered areas such as hotels and sports venues, Tokyo 2020 President Hashimoto said on Tuesday.

The president spoke of the clarification of COVID-19 Countermeasures related to the media covering the Games. The president spoke in the opening speech ahead of a board meeting in Tokyo 2020.

With Japan still struggling to contain a fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the Summer Games had public opposition. The opposition is over concerns that the sporting event has the possibility to trigger further infections and overloading of medical facilities.
