Nickelodeon faces backlash: ‘Sexualizing’ of Teen Ariana Grande makes fan outrageous

Children’s TV network Nickelodeon was accused of sexualizing teen Ariana Grande, who starred as Cat Valentine in their famous show ‘Victorious’. A video clip of the singer went viral from the show which fans assume to be in a sexual tone. The network faces a lot of backlash for this video clip. Moreover, former actress Jennette McCurdy in her new memoir, “I’m Glad My Mom Died” reveals numerous shocking facts about her mistreatment by the network on the set of her “Sam & Cat ”.

In her new memoir, “I’m Glad My Mom Died” McCurdy revealed the shocking facts. According to her, she faced a lot of abuse during working on Nickelodeon. It was released on Aug 9. Apart from that she also described her relationship with Grande. She said that she envied the singer and sometimes became furious at her repeated absence from the set of  “Sam & Cat.”

Teen Ariana Grande’s sexualizing video clip went viral 

A YouTube user by the name of Skarlett Akira shared a clip of Ariana Grande from her famous show ‘Victorious'(https://youtu.be/Vl0OuXw_mTM). Fans claim the video clearly proves the sexualizing of the 29-year-old singer who was a teen back then. 

The video stated in a bedroom Grande was sticking her toes and fingers in her mouth while looking into the camera. She was lying upside down in the bed. Moreover, mourning, squeezing a potato and splashing water on the face and chest while saying, ” Mmm, I’m thirsty”. 

Fans address these actions as certainly in a sexualized tone. For them, it’s extremely inappropriate to portray a teenager like this. However, the makers claimed the show was a comedy and the actions are totally innocent.

As per the reports of Deadline, Dan Schneider, the writer and director of the show has been removed from Nickelodeon. In, 2018 he had multiple complaints of abusive behaviour. So, Grande’s fans are pretty sure about the abuse she faced while working on the network.

The Grammy winner appeared in the show from 2011 to 2013, when she was 16 to 19 years old.
