Rob Lowe gotta check his contacts twice. The star revealed the hilarious incident of mistaking Bradley Cooper as Robert Downey Jr. At the 81st Golden Globe Awards last week Robert won the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Christopher Nolan’s directorial Oppenheimer. Although Lowe intended to congratulate him he shared a hilariously cringe-worthy texting faux to Copper.
Rob shared his long history with Robert Downey Jr.
In his recent appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live Show, the actor told host Jimmy, “I’m so excited for him and so I text him, ‘So glad you won, that is the most beautiful acceptance speech I’ve heard in a long time. Boy, do you deserve it. I hit send and I realize, ‘Oh s**t. I just sent that to Bradley Cooper.'”
However, Cooper got nominations for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama, Best Director of a Motion Picture Drama, and Best Motion Picture Drama for his film, Maestro Oppenheimer won all of the respective categories. Cillian Murphy got the nod as Best Actor, Christopher Nolan as Best Director and Robert as Best Supporting Actor.
“So then I was like, ‘Oh, I gotta make it better’ and I said, ‘No, no, I meant that for Robert Downey, Jr.,'” Rob added. “I’m like, ‘No! That’s even worse. Make the guy feel worse.'”
Lowe noted the cause of this “terrible” mistake is because of inputting “the wrong numbers under the wrong names.”
However the error game hasn’t stopped here since he revealed, “I did it again. I mistakenly sent another one to Bradley.”
“He literally said, ‘No, no, no, I like living vicariously through these mistakes,'” the actor said.
Despite failing to take any award home, Maestro is getting nods from numerous prestigious awards like in 96th Academy Awards nominations (BAFTA) whose nominations were revealed on Jan. 23.
Previously Bradley was also awarded the National Board Review’s Icon Award where he was touted as an “impressive actor, writer, producer, and director, who brings his passion, artistry, and dedication to everything he does, including his last beautifully sublime film, Maestro.”
Moreover, Cooper and his 6-year-old daughter, Lea also attended the 2024 National Board of Review Gala in New York City. The 49-year-old gushed about his daughter’s cameo in the film. He told Entertainment Tonight about Lea whom he shares with ex Irina Shayk, “She was in the movie. Yeah, she was great. She was really awesome.”
