Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York isn’t doing well with her health. Months after the former Royal underwent a single mastectomy for her breast cancer the spokesperson of the Duchess said in a statement to E! News that she has been now diagnosed with malignant melanoma or termed as skin cancer. Let’s check out the complete details of this story.
Sarah Ferguson said she has been now diagnosed with malignant melanoma
Fergie’s rep stated on December 21, saying, “Following her diagnosis with an early form of breast cancer this summer, Sarah, Duchess of York has now been diagnosed with malignant melanoma. Her dermatologist asked that several moles were removed and analyzed at the same time as the Duchess was undergoing reconstructive surgery following her mastectomy, and one of these has been identified as cancerous.”
According to The Telegraph and other outlets, the Duchess has also made a surprise appearance with her ex-husband Prince Andrew, Duke of York and the rest of the royal family at a Christmas Day service in Sandringham, Norfolk.
Moreover, the author’s team continued, “She is undergoing further investigations to ensure that this has been caught in the early stages. Clearly, another diagnosis so soon after treatment for breast cancer has been distressing, but the Duchess remains in good spirits.”
The Duchess also acknowledged her medical team which has “supported her, particularly her dermatologist whose vigilance ensured the illness was detected when it was. She believes her experience underlines the importance of checking the size, shape, color and texture and emergence of new moles that can be a sign of melanoma.”
Sarah and Prince Andrew are the parents of Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice.
Prior to her cancer diagnosis, other prominent royals like King Charles III will undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate and Cathrine, the Princess of Wales, also underwent a planned abdominal surgery.
Although the Duchess of York has opened up about her “breast cancer” in a New Year’s Eve post in 2023, she hasn’t mentioned a thing about her skin cancer.
The royal wrote in the post, “I have had the pleasure of meeting some very inspiring people from around the world with beautiful stories to tell. I have discovered within myself that I, too, have more stories to tell. I am 64 and just getting started.”
We wish her a speedy recovery!
