Star Trek Actor Kenneth Mitchell Passed Away at 49

Another dark say has fallen upon the entertainment industry, actor Kenneth Mitchell known for roles in Star Trek: Discovery and Captain Marvel and the husband of Center Stage actress Susan May Pratt passed away at the age of 49. The actor had been struggling with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS for a long period of time. Apart from his wife his daughter Lilah, 16, and son Kallum, 11, plus his parents, brother and other family members were there by his side at the last moment of his life. As per the definition of Mayo Clinic ALS ‘is a nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS causes loss of muscle control. The disease gets worse over time.” On February 24 the actor took his last breath at Los Angeles. A day after his passing Mitchell’s family released a statement on this devastating news.

On February 25 shared a statement on Instagram that reads, “Ken was diligent and hardworking in everything he did, but as a father these traits found their fullest expression, He was extremely dedicated to being a positive and playful force in the lives of his children. Regardless of his later disabilities, Ken discovered a higher calling to be more fully himself for his kids. Ken will be forever proud of who his children have become.”

The obituary also included an essay titled “Connect” written by the late actor himself.

“When I die, when I leave this life, I want to become a tree, a Ginko, White pine, Jacaranda, Lemon, Cedar, Oak, Myrtle or Maple,” the late actor wrote. “I want to be buried under the roots, so I can be soaked up, all my matter, my energy, my love, my laughter, my tears and I want to reach up through the branches and touch the night sky. I want to twinkle with the stars and when the earth turns, I want to feel the sun on the face of my leaves.”

The actor was a Canadian by origin who made his acting debut in the early aughts, appearing in Showtime’s Leap Year. Later he also played the prominent role of Eric Green on the series Jericho and Sam Lucas on Ghost Whisperer. In 2019, he got his breakthrough after starring on the CW’s Nancy Drew and in Captain Marvel.
