Brendan Fraser gets emotional while receiving SAG Award for Lead Film Actor. He received this award for his outstanding performance in the movie “The Whale.” The actor beats Adam Sandler, Austin Butler, Bill Nighy, and Colin Farrell. The award night was organized last Sunday. Moreover, while receiving the awards “The Mummy” alum gets a little emotional while receiving this prestigious award.
Brendan Fraser said the award made him feel like he belonged
The 54-year-old started his acceptance speech by jokingly saying, “I’m smiling and breathing, that’s half the job!” The actor then said, “I will treasure this, but never more than how I treasured… my SAG card that I earned in 1991. It made me feel like I belonged. We’re actors, we all want to belong to a tribe, and that’s where I found that.”
Moreover, he shares, “If you told that guy back then that I’d be standing right here right now, I would not have believed you.” Later on, he tanked his children for giving him strength. He also thanked his co-stars Hong Chau, Sadie Sink, Ty Simpkins, and Samantha Morton for their unconditional support.
Brendan also thanked film’s director Darren Aronofsky and writer Samuel D. Hunter for providing him with “the role of my life. He added, “He’s someone who is on a raft of regrets, but he’s in a sea of hope.” Then he talked about his character,” I’ve been in that sea, and I’ve rode that wave lately, and it’s been powerful and good, and I’ve also had that wave smash me into the ocean floor.”
The actor also motivated his fans by saying if you “put one foot in front of the other” and simply “have courage” every dream will come true.
The actor is nominated in the upcoming 95th Academy Awards for his remarkable role in the film.
