Emily Ratajkowski bashes the new Marilyn Monroe biopic on Netflix’s film Blond. On September 30, Ratajkowski shared a Tik Tok criticising the film. However, she isn’t alone in this criticism. Previously a representative for Planned Parenthood called out a scene of the Andrew Dominik-directed film. Emily Ratajkowski called out the film for fetishising women
The Gone Girls actress called out the makers of the film for fetishising women’s pain. However, she admits to not seeing the movie yet. The actress also points out how we are obsessed with dead women’s death.
“Look at Amy Winehouse. Look at Britney Spears. Look at the way we obsess over [Princess] Diana’s death. Look at the way we obsess over dead girls and serial killers. Watch any CSI episode, and it’s this crazy fetishization of female pain and death.”- the My Body author said.
Further, she added how she started fetishising her pain. As she said:
“I think as women, I can say for myself, I’ve learned how to fetishize my pain and my hurt, so it feels like something that can be tended to, that’s kind of sexy,” she explained. “‘Oh, I’m this f–ked up girl and whatever,’ and I think we do that in many, many different ways.”
The 31-year-old also thinks women have entered a bitch era and said 2022 is her bitch era. Furthermore, she added it’s wrong to fetishize women’s anger. “I was thinking about it, and you know what’s kind of hard to fetishize? Anger is hard to fetishize. So, I have a proposal. I think we all need to be a little more pissed off. 2022 is my bitch era. I think we should all be in our bitch era. So, I’m going to be pissed off when I see this movie. I already know it, but it’s nothing new. I’m just going to get angry.”
Last month the Gone Girl alum filed for divorce from husband Aebastian Bear-McClard, producer of the Uncut Gems.
