Jake Gyllenhaal hinted at getting engaged to girlfriend Jeanne Cadieu. In the latest edition of The Hollywood Reporter, the actor noted that making a family life is definitely on his list. The couple have always kept their six-year-long relationship out of public life. In March, the couple was also spotted at a rare red carpet appearance together alongside his parents for the premiere of Road House. Let’s check out what he has said.
Jake Gyllenhaal said family really is the only thing that matters to him
The 43-year-old actor who has been with the model 26-year-old for a time told the outlet, “I think we all get into that space of work, work, work, and for a long time my career took precedence. But I’m at a point in my life where I realize that family really is the only thing that matters to me.”
The couple was spotted last time together at the premiere of Road House where the couple showed a little PDA and had laughs as their photos were taken.
The actor also opened up about the special moment he shared with his family and his girlfriend while talking with Entertainment Tonight.
“We were trying to wrangle everybody,” the actor said at the time.
Although the couple’s timeline of wedding hasn’t been revealed, he did share to THR about a fun date night that he and Jeanne recently had at the KCRW’s Good Food Pie Fest.
“We got tickets a month and a half early,” he said. “I was like, ‘Babe, we can go! We can go to the pie contest!’”
Moreover, Jake’s sister Maggie Gyllenhaal, and brother-in-law, actor Peter Sarsgaard, revealed how “serious” he is about the role of uncle to their two daughters despite having no kids.
“There are two different types of uncles,” Peter said of his brother-in-law. “Uncles who have had their own children and uncles that have not had children. Right now, Jake is the uncle who has no children of his own, so he’s like 110 percent. When he has children of his own, he’ll be 95 percent.”
Apart from family life, Jake opened up about the struggles he has faced during his childhood. “I have a bit of dyslexia, particularly within the articles of things — like, I’ll reverse them,” he noted. “Many people say, ‘But you learn so fast.’ And I’m like, ‘I drill these things.’”
He also shared his other health struggle which is being legally blind with a prescription of 20/1250.
“I like to think it’s advantageous.,” he noted. “I’ve never known anything else. When I can’t see in the morning, before I put on my glasses, it’s a place where I can be with myself.”
