Lily Collins Revealed Her Opinion On Hollywood Nepotism Debate

Emily in Paris famed actress Lily Collins revealed her opinion on the Hollywood nepotism debate. The actress is the daughter of Genesis rocker Phil Collins. As per the sources of Entertainment Tonight On November 22, while talking with Vogue France she shared her journey and how she wanted to be apart from her famous father.

Lily Collins didn’t want to follow in her father’s footsteps

On November 22, talking with Voge France the Mirror Mirror actress talked about her journey of becoming an actress. Her path was different from other aspiring actresses as she has grown up to be a daughter of a legendary musician.

“It was out of the question that people would think that I use a free pass thanks to my name. I’m proud of my dad, but I wanted to be me, not just his daughter. For that, I was ready to wait to break through.”-she said.

The 33-year-old claimed she never wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps although she loves music.

“I love to sing. But as I wanted to make my own way, far from the paternal genius, I preferred to be an actress. I played in a few musicals because it’s the only setting in which I allow myself to sing. Frankly, I would be too afraid of comparisons!”

Furthermore, she revealed how she grow in her career, “By dint of failed castings, I learned to focus more on my work, and I managed to make acting my job. But I’m not resting on my laurels: this environment is very competitive and places are expensive.”

The Debate of Nepotism

The debate on nepotism has taken place in the entertainment industry for a long. Many people think because of famous names some actors get a chance easily while others have to struggle a lot. Prior to Collins Actor Johnny Deep and  Vanessa Paradis’s daughter actress Lily-Rose Depp also talked about this issue.
“I can definitely say that nothing is going to get you the part except for being right for the part. The internet cares a lot more about who your family is than the people who are casting you in things. Maybe you get your foot in the door, but you still just have your foot in the door. There’s a lot of work that comes after that.”- the Idol star said.
