Lucifer is a fictional, fantasy American television series (Now, a Netflix show) that premiered on Fox from January 25, 2016. It is written by Tom Kapinos and is based on DC Comics Character in the comic, The Sandman. The series is reportedly produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television.
The Devil himself, Mr. Lucifer Morningstar played by Tom Ellis is the main protagonist of the show. The series revolves around the adventures of the immortal devil who abandons hell to run a nightclub in Los Angeles (LUX). He further gets involved as LAPD consultant, where he falls for Detective Decker (Lauren German). The series also features Kevin Alejandro as Detective Daniel, D. B. Woodside as Amenadiel, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen, Rachael Harris as Dr. Linda Martin.
Since, the first episode, it is clear that God isn’t happy with Lucifer’s life decisions. Angels from heaven and demons from hell aren’t fully in support of Lucifer being on earth for so long, leaving behind his duties in the Hell. Throughout the episodes, he has shown enjoyment in punishing ‘bad’ people for their crimes through law and justice.
Netflix has released the official trailer for Part B of the fifth season of Lucifer. The trailer unveils that the God will himself visit the earth. This would further reveal secrets, demand sacrifices and change the world like never before. God will possibly take a physical form and make his displeasure known on Lucifer’s earthly adventures.
How did Lucifer went from being a Television Series to being a Netflix Series?
The series had a high viewership since the first season. The show received mixed reviews from critics, it remained consistently low on the ratings throughout the three seasons on Fox. As a result, Fox cancelled the series after three seasons.
Later, Netflix took up the show for its fourth season. It contributed to it’s high ratings and critical acclaim. The series was renewed on Netflix for fifth season (16 episodes), out of which, first 8 episodes were released on 21st August, 2020. The next part of the fifth season would soon be premiering on 28th May, 2021.
