Robert De Niro is the ultimate family man. The academy winner sat down for an interview with AARP Magazine, tears up talking about his 9-month-old daughter Gia whom he shares with his girlfriend Tiffany Chen. Gia is the actor’s seventh child; his other children were Drena, 52, and Raphael, 47, with ex-wife Diahnne Abbott, son Elliot, 25, and daughter Helen, 12, with ex-wife Grace Hightower, as well as twin sons, Aaron and Julian, 28, with ex-girlfriend Toukie Smith. Robert De Niro said he is an 80-year-old dad and it’s great
The actor told the outlet about his blossoming fatherhood, “I’m an 80-year-old dad and it’s great, Everything that I’m consumed with or worried about or this or that, just goes away when I look at her.”
While talking about her he wipes his eyes, possibly tearing up.
Moreover, the Killers of the Flower Moon star opens up about his daughter’s sweet trait. He added,”She has a very sweet kind of way of looking at you and just taking you in. My other daughter Helen had that too. Just look at you and take it in. So, I don’t know where it’s going to go with her later when she’s older, but she’s thinking and she’s observing everything and watching.”
De Niro noted, “It’s really interesting. I want to be around for as long as I can to enjoy it. Enjoy her.”
It isn’t the first time the actor talked about his new family previously in an interview with The Guardian he praised his partner.
“You never know what’s going to happen,” the 80-year-old said of parenthood. “They surprise you.”
Later on, he praised Chen, “It is what it is. It’s OK. I mean, I don’t do the heavy lifting. I’m there, I support my girlfriend. But she does the work. And we have help, which is so important.”
Needless to say, fatherhood is treating him pretty well. As he previously noted, “Of course I do… [I enjoy] all of it! With a baby, it’s different to with my 11-year-old. My adult children. My grandchildren. It’s all different.”
On top of that, Baby also made an adorable 10-minute cameo at a CBS Mornings interview with Gayle King that aired in July of last year.
