The nursing staff was banned on Saturday from speaking Malayalam in the Government hospital and serious actions can be taken if they continue speaking in Malayalam.
Nurses of the hospital and other Delhi hospitals criticised the move and said that they always talk with patients in Hindi.
A complaint has been received regarding the Malayalam language being used for communication in working places in GIPMER.
There are a lot of Malayali nurses in the hospital and they talk to patients in Malayalam and patients and their family members complained that it is difficult for them to understand this language. They are not okay with the Hindi imposition and also added that so many nurses are from Kerala and how we can afford to lose them.
